Available Guns

We are very pleased to offer this beautiful Round-Action, from the 'Golden Years' of Round-Action manufacture. The gun is in excellent condition throughout with the later bouquet and scroll Sumner engraving and the simple 'John Dickson & Son'  inscription on the sides of the action. The action is the later post 1900 style with all its attributes - no indicators, the fuller detonators, narrow ribanded fence and double-ramp safety button. The gun is fitted with a very well-figured stock, which remains in great condition. The gun benefits from replacement chopper-lump steel barrels with 2 3/4in chambers which measure as the day they were proved.  

To prepare the gun for sale, we have conducted a full service, strip and clean, cleaned and re-oiled the wood, cleaned out the chequering, and re-blacked the barrels and furniture. 

Provenance

Delivered as No. 1 of a pair of guns in 1904 to a family member of Lord Inverclyde. The Burns family were a very prominent shipbuilders and shipping merchants in Glasgow, who founded not only the service of Irish steamers and the West Highland service, but the renowned Cunard Line, which still operates today.
