New Inventory - John Dickson & Son Round-Action, made in 1897

12 Gauge, patent triggerplate action, side-by-side shotgun

We are very pleased to be able to offer this vintage Round-Action that was delivered to match an earlier gun, two days before the Glorious Twelfth in August 1897. Marked with Patent Use Number 656, its the 656th patent-gun made in the Round-Action’s 141 year history.

At first glance, this gun has the period style Sumner scroll with the John Dickson & Son Patent banner on the sides of the action but also has a rare variation on this engraving, incorporating a beautifully executed ribbon pattern on the underside of the action. The gun has the classic 29in damascus barrels fitted, 29in being the optimum length for a Dickson triggerplate action gun, which still measure well and have recently been re-browned to show off the wonderful pattern.

The gun is fitted with a well figured long stock which was made for the current owner when he purchased the gun from Dickson's in 2000. Previous to that, it appears the original purchaser left the gun to his non-shooting family and the gun was in put into storage with Dickson's in Frederick Street for a many years, resulting in a two owner gun in the last 125 years. The gun is in superb condition and completed with a Dickson oak and leather case with accessories.
