New Inventory - John Dickson & Son Round-Action, made in 1894
12 Gauge, patent triggerplate action, side-by-side shotgun
This is a beautifully shaped Round-Action which has the period style tight Sumner scroll with the John Dickson & Son Patent banner on the sides of the action. The gun is fitted with a well figured stock which is finished with a red Silvers recoil pad. The gun has 29 inch steel barrels, which measure very well, and are true and clean, inside and out and benefit from a re-proof in 1983.
Overall, the gun is in very good condition and is a great example of an early action gun with the shallow rimmed detonators and swept out fence, but no cocking indicators. This gun also incorporates a very unique feature in which the assisted-opener compressors have roller bearings in their tips, to aid the smooth opening and closing of the gun.
To prepare the gun for sale we have given the gun a full service, strip and clean, cleaned and re-oiled the stock and fore-end, re-cut all the chequering, fitted a new Silvers pad, fitted a new silver oval, re-cut the engraving on the barrels, and re-blacked the barrels and furniture.
Provenance
Delivered as a single gun in August 1894 for a member of a well-known family of Solicitors in Edinburgh.
