New Inventory - Beautiful Kell Engraved John Dickson & Son Boxlock, made in 1924

12 gauge, A & D Ejector, side-by-side shotgun

This is one of the three boxlock guns delivered in 1924 for an American investment banker, collector, philanthropist, and patron of the arts who was sometimes referred to as the "King of New York" due to his profile in the city but also the castle he built on a 443 acre estate on Long Island.

The gun is Harry Kell engraved but not with the usual bold foliate scrolls pattern on the action and scallop shell detonators. Instead, a lighter pattern on the action but the trademark Kell scrolls on the floorplate. The barrel measurements are very good and the bores are perfect - remain bright and unmarked. The gun is fitted with a well figured, straight-hand stock and finished with new red Silvers recoil pad.

To prepare the gun for sale, we have given the gun a full service, strip and clean, re-blacked the barrels, cleaned out the chequering and re-oiled the stock. We are currently fitting out a Dickson canvas case to accompany the gun and a set of Dickson exhibition grade accessories will also be supplied.

The good bore measurements and wall thickness mean that this gun is perfectly suitable for standard 2 1/2in steel cartridges.
